Senior Thesis & Independent Research
A glimpse into my independent research and senior thesis.
Currently, I am working with a faculty mentor to further develop my language and research skills in preparation for a 30-page paper and school-wide presentation. My chosen topic is a comparative analysis of fabula pallitata, Roman plays inspired by the Greeks. I’m investigating common elements, particularly clichés, character archetypes, and plot formulas that often appear in contemporary films. In the paper’s penultimate section, I aim to synthesize my findings to expound on fundamental truths about the human experience.

Senior Thesis - Currently in progress.

Last year in Honors 4 Latin, I undertook a semester-long analytical translation project to explore how marginalized populations in second-century Rome used the occult to gain personal agency. In addition to other primary source documents, I translated and analyzed Roman literature including Apuleius’s The Golden Ass, the only fully surviving ancient Roman novel in Latin, and his famous courtroom defense, Apologia. Ultimately, I was most interested in the socio-political response to the ascendance of women and provincial citizens and how power holders attempted to maintain the status quo.
